From Dr. Price's Blog:

While some of collectors’ favorite features will be continued in the new product, there will also be some great new ones.

Image

This year’s base card set will 199 cards. The first 30 cards will be Heroes, the next 120 cards will be Prospects and the last 49 base cards in the set will be 2013 Draft Picks. However, the Draft Picks will feature our new 3-D fronts. You won’t believe the way these cards look. In my opinion, the best 3-D cards the hobby has ever seen.

This year for the very first time, the entire Prospects part of the set will feature CHL players only.

Collectors have asked for more CHL coverage and this year they will get it. I have been asked year after year to increase the numbers of juniors in the product. This year I was able to make this happen by concentrating solely on the juniors. This happens to be a great year to do so as there are some great prospects in the CHL this year.

2012-13 Heroes and Prospects will pose a very interesting dilemma for collectors, “to collect or not collect”.

Let me elaborate. The Decoy Cards in this product have been designed in a similar way to the 2011-2 Between The Pipes Puzzle Cards. So collectors will have to choose between collecting the Decoy/Puzzle cards or submitting them for redemption cards.

Image

There will be eleven different players who will have Decoy/Puzzle cards to collect or redeem.

More details to come but look for more autograph cards and more authentic game-used memorabilia cards than ever before.

Release Date will be mid to late January, stay tuned for further details.

Seems like an odd choice if true, the one year that the AHL is loaded with talent and they decide to make all the prospects from the CHL? Was really looking forward to this product but not as much anymore if true.

I hope they do a separate set for the AHL. This set looks nice but for those of us who don't really follow the CHL vs. the AHL, it's not something to focus on.

Yeah, same here. I was hoping for some Amerks stuff with CoHo and Foligno and some Barons stuff with RNH, Hall, Eberle, and Schultz.

I would not be surprised at all if the NHLPA stepped in and strong armed him into not using the AHL guys as its a good chunk of their 'NHL' talent. Other then that, I can think of no good reason why else he would leave the AHLers out.

All that being said, the CHL is completely loaded this year with guys like Mackinnon, McDavid, Scheifele, Huberdeau etc.... so it will be a hit either way.

I'm happier there's more CHL players and less AHL players. Like Brad said this year is loaded with junior players who will be superstars one day. The AHL on the other hand, all its "all stars" are really only there till a deal is signed anyways so there's not much point hyping them in their minor jerseys in my opinion. The junior players however are guaranteed to be there till the year's done and potentially a couple more years.

Here's to hoping Sam Bennett is in this year's product!

Sucks that there's no AHL, but there are definitely some great names that'll make up for it.

The autograph design is okay but it's almost identical to the basecard design, kind of like the old H&P

I personally really like the autos. Different from the last couple years.
